FRONT OF PACKAGE WARNING LABELS
Before the deadline of May 24th, Saint Lucians were expected to cast a vote either in support of or against standard FDCRS 5 : 201X Labelling of foods. Included in this standard was the use of OCTAGONAL FOOD LABELS – displaying the content of sugar, salt, trans fat and fat in the packaged foods. Saint Lucia Cancer Society joined Healthy Caribbean Coalition (HCC) and other CSOs in the region to campaign in support of this standard. To everyone who supported us, THANK YOU!
We now have to wait and see how the region votes and how this will impact non-communicable diseases in our region. We believe that one step at a time is the only way we can stop this epidemic.
